President Address

With the evolvement of time and progress of history, the hard work of the ancestors of University of Science and Technology Liaoning have been fair recorded by the age. From the endeavors and developing tracks left by pioneers have been composed psalms and poems in which the hardship, the struggle and the progress is interwoven greatly. While reviewing the history book of USTL from 1948 to 2006, we are so gratified and invigorated because it is a spectacular and massive phylogeny and a brilliant course full of excitement and pride.

Since its founding, for sixty years as one day, persisting in the rational consciousness of “Quality as its essence, development with high quality faculty members and flourishing with its characteristics”, the faculties and students of the university have been working hard and offering themselves selflessly to cultivate intelligent students with high abilities, to develop science and technology, and to serve society. For sixty years as one day, the university has insisted on progress as the key factor and emphasizing development among scale, quality, structure and benefit harmoniously. By moving modestly forward, USTL steadily upgraded its academic level and strength. For sixty years as one day, in the past years, USTL has always paid much attention to the construction of study and held education and academic qualities as its lifeline. Through improving its discipline system, and reforming in education and teaching, USTL has currently cultivated more than 10 thousand of high quality graduates with special abilities. USTL, from the small mono-disciplinary institute with a priority of engineering at its founding, has developed into a multi-disciplinary university with a magnificent campus including science, engineering, economy, management, art and law. It can be said that, the University of Science of Technology Liaoning has progressed with the development of China simultaneously with significant changes.

Looking to the future, and grasping current development opportunities, USTL will be proud to carry on the mission endowed by history, and offer all students a quality full of enthusiasm, innovation, and pragmatism. It is proposed that USTL try to be one of the top ranking universities in Liaoning Province and to become a well-known university in China for its exceptional excellence in teaching and research by the hard work in the coming years.
