THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

Brief Introduction

The school originally named as Department of Mathematics that was found in 1996 at Anshan Institute of Iron and Steel Technology, and renamed as School of Science in 2002. Now the School of Science is composed of Department of Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics Department, Department of Physics, Experimental Center of Physics, Nano-Material Research Center and Institute of Applied Mathematics. There are General Office, Academic Office and Student Office in of the school taking its daily administrative functions. Now, faculty members and staff are totally 81, including five professors, thirty-two associate professors and thirty-two lectures. Among the faculty members, however, three of them were coffered with Ph.D degrees and thirty-six with master's degrees.

The School of Science now can confer two bachelor's degree programs. One is Information and Numeration and another is Applied Physics. The undergraduate student enrollment in 2006 is 221 in the two fields. Besides, the school can confer master's degree in the field of Operational Research and Cybernetics. Recent years, the academic strength and research ability have been much improved by the hard work of all faculties and staff. In the past five year, the school took three national-level research projects, two of them are sponsored by National Natural Scientific Foundations and one of them belongs to National 863 Project. Moreover, the school still took more than ten projects from provincial and municipal Governments. The amount of the all projects summed 6,000 thousand Yuan (RMB). Aside from research, the faculties and staff published 103 papers in different journals

Academic reforms have never stopped and many results have been gotten in the school. All application in which modern teaching methods can be used reasonably and fitly is encouraged. To facilitate teaching with multi-media methods, the school often organizes competitions such as in perfections and in basic skills as a teacher. Now the Linear Algebra was nominated as provincial fine program, and Calculus and Experiments in Physics was appraised as campus fine programs.

Facing to the new developing opportunity, the school encourages all its faculty members and staff to do their best in academic and research for developing a high level school.

EDUCATION:

 July, 1982 Graduated with Bachelor degree – Education in mathematics, Anshan Institute of Iron & Steel Technology;

March, 2002 Graduated with Masters Degree – Applied Mathematics, Northeastern University.

EMPLOYMENT and POSITION:  

Took charge of many positions such as Vice-head of Staff Branch of Mathematics, Vice-dean of Element Teaching Department, and Vice-director of Academic Department. In 1994 promoted as associate professor and 2005 as professor. Currently holds the post of Secretary of CCP of School of Science, USTL.

He touch many subjects on mathematics for years in the university, such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, Design of Orthogonal Test, Equation Math and Physics, Complex Function, Ordinary-differential Equation, Statistics and Random Process and Method of Math and Physics.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIE:

He is one of experts on inequality and modern control system. He submitted some papers on the academic journals in the fields.
