	Nowadays，with China playing an important role in the world ,more and more persons choose to learn Chinese .In USTLN ,we offer three levels of courses to meet your different needs on Chinese learning .To know the details ,please check study @USTL . 	Syllable : A Chinese syllable is ususlly composed of an initial ,a final and a tone .An initial is a consonant that begins the syllable and a final is the rest of the syllable .If you want to learn to speak Chinese ,you should learn the initials,the finals and the tones first.
	Initials : b p m f ,d t n l ,g k h, j q x, zh, ch, sh, r, z,c, s
	Finals :i,u, ü, a,ia, ua, o,uo, e, ie, üe, ai, uai , ei, uei(ui) ,ao, iao, ou,iou(iu), an, ian, uan, üan, en,in,uen(un), ün, ang, iang, uang, eng, ing, ueng, ong,iong
	Tones There are four basic tones and one neutral tone in the standard Chinese .They are indicated by tone graphs .Namely ,“–”(the first tone ),“′”(the second tone ), “ˇ”(the third tone),“ˋ”(the fourth tone)and the neutral tone which is not marked.When a syllable is pronounced in different tones,it has different meanings ,for example ,tāng means “soup”,táng means “sugar”,tǎng means “to lie down”and tàng means “hot”.

	A 现在几点？	A What time is it ?
	B 现在六点。	B It is six o’clock.
	A 你几点回家？	A When will you come back home?
	B 我晚上七点半回家。你呢？	B Half past seven in the evening ,what about you ?
	A 我八点回家。	A I will be back at eight .
